Roger & Maureen McMullen
|
Here's to the best years of my life, spent in the arms of another mans wife - my mother.

I lived on Tower Road for thirteen years. After the war we built on Morien Hill (Caledonia area) and it was home until I joined the Air Force. When I dropped out of school in 1950 I went to work at Seigel Motors. It is now LOFoods. In Sept 1951 I went to work in #4 Colliery, was injured and joined the RCAF in 1952I've been retired since 1978. Attended Loyalist College after the service and got a Diploma in Business Adminstration.
Mostly I work with the Legion. I found that as a retiree you are asked to do so many things that it can be more stressful than working. So I try to keep a limit on it.
Maureen and I were married in London, England in November 1954. We have gone forth and multiplied by four children and eight grandsons.
Actually, being away from Glace Bay for a number of years, I found I had trouble breathing whenever I went back. Too much coal smoke. If I was to go back to live it would have to be away from the industrial part of the Island. Which is okay by me.
