Can we really go home again? I don't think so! Not to the Cape Breton we remember so well. This, for those of us that moved away, is a mythical land shrouded in the emotional energies of our childhood.

 
When I left Cape Breton for good, I was in my early twenties. At that time I did not know what it was to leave. Now I'm in my mid fourties and I fully understand what it is to come home again.

I had a fairly good trade, radio announcer, and a grade twelve education, when I left the island. I was ready to take on the world. I will return with a Ph.D. and an open mind. Ready to take on anything that pops up.

I have devoted the past ten years to educating myself. I started researching alternative educational techniques and taught myself speed reading. I then learned memory enhancement and neuro linguistic programming or NLP. That took me to hypnosis and the study of mind control. From there I made the leap to quantum physics and then metaphysics. I return home to open up my own practice as a master hypnotist with a Ph.D in Metaphysics.

I was born in North Sydney but was raised in Glace Bay; number 11 to be exact. My dad and sister still live in McKay's Corner. I have a brother also in the Bay and another sister in Dominion. My ex-wife lives in Sydney Mines with my nine year old son Daniel. I look forward to being close enough to my son to be there whenever he needs me.

Returning home to Cape Breton means so much to me. I plan on getting involved in as many of the organizations that make Cape Breton special as I can. Growing up in Glace Bay was a busy time of my life. As one of the founding members of the Glace Bay Police Boys & Girls Club; the Passchendale Y.C.S. and the Helping Hands organization, my plate was full. I hope to set a good example for my own son by getting envolved in the community once again. I believe it is far more important that I instill a sense of self respect in my son. A respect for himself and his home town. He must learn that it is better to be self reliant and not expect the government to provide for him throughout his lifetime. He must take responsibility for himself and his community. Even though I am currently in Scarborough, Ontario; I'm still a proud Cape Bretoner and I plan to return to help the area as best I can.
